Eating Disorder Treatment Plans

Dr. Mehri Moore believes that eating disorders develop from a number of biological, psychological and social factors. An individualized treatment program that addresses all these elements is the basis of her practice philosophy.

The initial evaluation is the starting point for treatment at the Moore Center. We offer four levels of care for our patients including the RIVA Day Treatment program, Intensive Outpatient Program, Step-Down Program, and Maintenance Program. Individual therapy, nutritional therapy, and family and couples counseling are always available as part of our program offerings, as well as outside the parameters of the programs.

The Moore Center endeavors to furnish customized, comprehensive treatment for each individual. We work in concert with our patients' family physicians, psychotherapists, and other helping professionals to insure that every patient receives appropriate and effective care.

RIVA Day Treatment Program

RIVA is a comprehensive day treatment program designed for patients who would otherwise require treatment in a hospital or other institutional setting. It is appropriate for clients transitioning from inpatient or residential care to a reduced level of care or from outpatient treatment to a more intensive level of care. Offering many of the features found at costly inpatient programs, RIVA allows patients to continue to live at home, work or go to school, and remain among friends and family while they pursue recovery.

Intensive Outpatient Program (Phase 1)

The Phase 1 Program is designed to respond quickly to the needs of patients who are in crisis. Entry into the program promptly after diagnosis helps to eliminate the need for hospitalization. The Moore Center's intensive outpatient treatment allows patients to be expertly cared for while remaining within their families and communities and carrying on with their daily activities. The program enrollment operates on a fluid basis, with participants entering and graduating continuously, thus allowing patients to start at any time. Immediate admission is important once the patient makes the decision to get into treatment and pursue recovery. The Moore Center is able to respond with a treatment plan before an acute episode can occur.

Step-Down Program (Phase 2)

The Phase 2 Program is designed for patients who have completed the Phase 1 Program or have recently been discharged from an inpatient treatment program. It utilizes the same therapeutic processes and techniques applied in the Phase 1 Program and it offers a healthy structure within which patients can continue working towards recovery.

Maintenance Program (Phase 3)

The Phase 3 Program (Maintenance) is specifically geared to patients who have achieved recovery and want or need ongoing support in a group of their peers to maintain recovery and health.

Eating disorders of all kinds almost always need a structured milieu which includes the application of various therapeutic modalities. Focused programs are very effective in the treatment of this disease and the promotion of recovery. However, The Moore Center offers one-on-one counseling, family and couples therapy, meal planning, and nutritional education, separately from the specific programs described above. Dr. Moore will always recommend a course of treatment that best suits the patient's diagnosis, but her customized approach also takes into account the needs of the individual patient, such as time constraints, financial situation, and commute.
