About Eating Disorders![]() Eating disorders are complex and confusing problems that affect an individual's physical, emotional, and intellectual well-being, as well as disrupting relationships with family and significant others. As disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder or compulsive overeating progress, a person becomes increasingly unable to function within his or her system becoming more entrenched in the eating disorder, possibly escalating into a life-threatening condition. The symptoms of an eating disorder are centered around a distorted body image, an impaired sense of self-esteem and personal power, and a preoccupation with food and weight. |
